What Does An MoT Tester Look For?

• Brakes checks 
  Full checks will be carried out to the brake system, parking brake system as well as additional braking devices.
  
• Lighting checks 
  Full checks will be made to all features of the lighting system, including side lights, headlamp beam, stop lamps, direction indicators, rear reflectors.
  
• Steering & Suspension Checks 
  Full checks will be made to features inside the vehicle, under the bonnet ,wings and  the vehicles steering wheel and column, wheel bearings, ball joints, shock absorbers and front and rear suspension units.

Will My Vehicle Pass The Test?

It is hard to say if your vehicle will pass the MoT Test, until it has actually been tested. However, here are a few pointers that you can check prior to the vehicles test.

• Fill your wiper washer bottle and clear the washer jets with a pin. 

• Check the rubbers on your operating pedals, if they are badly worn as this may cause your vehicle to fail the test.

• Check your tyres for damage and wear, if the tread is below the legal minimum of 1.6 mm your car will fail. The spare tyre is not part of the MoT Test.
